Rereading notes I took years ago while reading Jean-Marie Domenach 's * Return of the Tragic* , I remember our meeting. I see him arriving at my small studio in La Fourche, asking me for a glass of wine, and me beginning to explain in detail the direction I wanted to take our interview. And him, looking at me with wide eyes, which widened even further, suddenly exclaimed enthusiastically, "But you've read my books… I'm not used to meeting journalists who have read my books."
This meeting will remain one of the most memorable I've had as a journalist. We spent over two hours discussing morality and moralism, Saint-Just and Nietzsche. And God, too. God above all.
